» General Information:
Located in the southeastern platform of Cuba, the Gulf of Ana Maria extends from Cayos Mate to Punta Maria Aguiar. The area covers about 10,000 km2 reaching a maximum of 25 meters deep. The Gulf is isolated from the open sea and its bottom is covered by sand, clay and coral. The Gulf of Ana Maria offers very good fishing of baby tarpon, bonefish, snook, jacks ( Crevalle and Horse Eye), as well as cubera, snapper, cuda and other sport fish species in its flats and mangrove swamps.

» Package:
The packages consist of: reception in Havana airport; 2 night accommodation in the Hotel Nacional or Telegrafo; transfer Havana/Jucaro/Havana; 6 night accommodation in the yatch "Caballones" with all meals and beverages (with limit); 5 and a 1/2 days fishing from modern skiffs with well-qualified guides; fishing licence.


» Accommodation:
The yacht is ideal for a group of 6 to 8 anglers, with three to four guides and their skiffs, available at all times. 4 double bedroom with A/C and hot water, the yatch offer a very good service on board.

» Tackle and Equipment:
We suggest taking a #8 wt rod, a #10 wt rod and a #12 wt rod. At least a #8 wt rod and a #10 wt rod. Spare line in case of possible cuts in the mangrove and coral reef areas. Sinking line for tarpon (300 to 350 grains).
Flies for bonefish: Crazy Charly; Gotcha; Bonefish Special; any kind of Shrimp; Clowser Minow.
Flies for tarpon, snook and jacks: Black Death; Purple Death; tarpon Toad; Cockroach; Stu Apte; Seaducers; Sea Streamers and some poppers.
Others: 9 feet and 13,2-pound leaders for bonefish; for tarpon 50 or 60-pound-test (butt) and 80 or 100-pound fluorocarbon shock tippet. 12,20,40,60 and 80 pound fluorocarbon spools (tippet). Silicone to clean the lines. Steel line for Barracuda. Hook sharpener. Polarized sunglasses.
Wading neoprene boots. Medicine for headaches, stomachaches, and others. Polarized sunglasses. Sun block.Lightweight rain jacket for rain showers. Insect repellent. Valid passport.

» Additional Information:
A tourist visa is necessary to enter Cuba. It costs U$S 15.-
American dollars and other European currencies are not acceptable. The money has to be changed for CUC ( tourist currency). Boarding tax cost CUC 25.-
You can use credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, etc) for shopping, hotel and other services, but they are NOT accepted it they have been issued in the United States.
The weather is usually drier and slightly cooler from December to March. During September, October and November, it is usually rainy and there might be occasional tropical storms or rain showers. All the months are good for fishing, but there is more abundance of bonefish and tarpon from March to July.
The average annual temperature in the area is 26°C and humidity reaches an average of 74%. A breeze from the Caribbean blows during the day and light winds from the land blow at night. Cuban people are polite, friendly and well-mannered.
