» General Information:
Campeche is located in the western area of Yucatán peninsula. To get there, you can take a short flight from Houston, Texas, to the city of Merida (Yucatan) or fly to Campeche via a connection in Mexico city. You will be welcomed by our representatives at the airport to take you on a 2-hour drive in comfortable vans to HOTEL PLAZA CAMPECHE, just a 5-minute walk from the main square.

» Package:
The fishing day usually begins early in the morning (at 7.00 am), having breakfast at the hotel. You will be led to the marina where well-qualified fishing guides will be ready to start the fishing day. The boats they use are HEWES REDFISHER 18 and MAKO 17.5' in shore series, offering a nice journey along Campeche bay and great comfort during the fishing. The fishing spots are situated between 25 and 45 minute boat ride. The tarpon and the snook are the main species in the area.
Campeche offers a wide area for fishing: 181,919 acres of protected waters called the Petenes biosphere, home to an abundant population of mangrove fed by fresh water coming from the cenotes (natural underground reservoir). An amazing diversity of marine species have created a unique habitat, so you never fish the same spot twice. Sight fishing is mainly applied in 1 to 5-foot waters, where schools of baby tarpon from 6 to 25 pounds and snooks from 3 to 8 pounds are found. Over 75 miles of mangrove with 85 channels are home to baby tarpon, snook, pargo, and barracuda.

» Accommodation:
Located at the historic center of the city, Hotel Plaza Campeche offers all the facilities that modern hotels offer nowadays: restaurants, satellite TV, air conditioning, business center, swimming pool, parking lot and a bar.

» Tackle and Equipment:
We suggest 8 or 9 wt rods with floating line WF, reels with a good brake system and at least 200-yard backing. The most recommended flies are the Seaducers, Decivers, Balck Death, Purple Death, Cockroach , Gummy Minnow, etc tied on hooks 1/0 to 3/0.
We also suggest bringing a wide-brimmed hat, polarized sunglasses, trainers, sunblock and light clothes.
