View package view rates View reports View testimonials
» General Information:
Nestled in the middle of the Amazon rainforest, this excellent fishing area is 420 miles away from Caracas. It is the point where the rivers Venturai and Orinoco meet up in an amazing delta of unique beauty and exuberant wildlife.

To reach it, a charter flight leaves Caracas every Sunday and takes only one hour and forty minutes.

Three different indigenous tribes live in the area, as a faithful evidence of ancient cultures. There is a vast variety of amazing wildlife. A great number of birds can be spotted during the day: aracaris, toucans, macaws, parrots, eagles, parakeets. The area is also home to the tapir, the capybara, the jaguar, the lapa, the peccary, the ocelot, monkeys and thousands of other animals.

Peacock Bass fishing is the star of the place. An angler is expected to catch at least 20 fish weighing between 5 and 20 pounds. Three different types of Peacock Bass live in the area: the "nigrolieatus", the "orinocensis", which is the most abundant, and the "temensis", weighing over 20 pounds. It is also possible to catch other species, such as Payara (up to 20 pounds), Morocoto (up to 40 pounds), Piranha, etc.

» Package:
Fishing is done on 40 HP motor skiff. There is no other fishing lodge around so the fishing area is unlimited. To ensure the best fishing possible, a strict catch and release policy is in effect in the camp.

- Day 3-4-5-6-7 and 8: Fishing.

- Day 9: Return to Caracas to stay the night at Hotel Inter-Continental Tamanco.

Very Important: We can organize shorter tailor-made packages from Sunday to Sunday with 7 nights accommodation and 6 full fishing days subject to the availability of the Lodge.

» Accommodation:
Located in the middle of the rainforest and built in 1987, a wonderful 5-star camp stands as an oasis of comfort to fulfil the needs of the most demanding anglers. It consists of 6 luxurious cabins, accommodating up to 2 anglers each, twin beds, private baths, hot running water and ceiling fans. All the cabins are tastefully decorated and have furniture and hammocks at the porch. There is a main lodge with a spacious living room, two dining tables, kitchen and satellite TV. The complex also offers radio communication, satellite telephone and fax. Cabin cleaning and laundry service are included. A general manager, maintenance workers, cheff and service employees complete the staff. The meals are based on fresh fish (catch of the day), beef, chicken, fruits and vegetables, local and international dishes. The beverages are always cool: beer, mineral water and soft drinks.

» Tackle and Equipment:
When targeting trophy fish in the Amazon basin, most seasoned peacock anglers prefer a 9-foot #9 WT or #10WT fast rod. Reels with a good brake system and capable of holding 200 yards of backing. Weight Forward Floating line but it is advisable to take a fast sinking line too. 20 to 30-pound leader (hard). The most successful flies are: Streamers in general, Jungle Bunny, Epoxy Prism, Taper Zonker, Popovic´s, Lefty´s Deceiver and Clouser Minnow, all tied on 1/0 to 3/0 hooks.

» Additional Information:
The fishing season runs from January through April, dry season. As the lodge is located just 150 miles north of the Equator, the temperatures are constant during the day: 85 to 95 Fº, with a high percentage of humidity. During this time of the year, the days are usually sunny with some occasional rain showers. We suggest traveling in light-weight clothes and bringing long-sleeved shirts and pants, hat, polarized sunglasses, sunblock SPF 30 or higher, an extra pair of sneakers, a light-weight rain jacket. We will send you a complete list with the clothes and equipment we suggest keeping in mind.
