We thoroughly enjoyed our duck hunting trip to Argentina...and will be back, hopefully very soon. I also intend to travel again to Argentina in January 2006 for one of your fishing packages. Andres and his assistants, Mauricio and Martin, were at all times freindly and very professional. They all worked hard to ensure that the hunt went well. We also found the accomodations and the meals, especially the tradional barbeque prepared on our behalf on Saturday, to be first class. Finally, the number of game birds, especially waterfowl, were almost unbelievable. Please extend my thanks to your organization for a job well done.

Sincerely

» General Information:
Water fowling is the main activity in this area and our country is, without a doubt, a great choice particularly duck hunting. Reserves in northern Corrientes are a permanent inhabitat for the different duck species of Argentina, such as: White-faced Whistling-duck, Yellow-billed Pintail, Speckled Teal, Red Shoveler, Cinnamon Teal, White-cheeked Pintail, Silver Teal, Rosy-billed Pochard, Brazilian Duck, Ringed Teal, Black-headed duck, etc.(Click over the duck link to see a full sized ilustration). The unique grounds, the permanent water wealth and the great culture of rice, turn this area into a particularly attractive habitat for the variety of aquatic animal species.

For the duck hunting, that takes part in the morning and in the afternoon, local hunters are placed individually or in pairs in different areas previously selected by the head guide. Every hunter is accompanied by a guide, a birdboy and a ret dog, to the hunting place in 4x4 light trucks.

Hunters may be shooting by a lagoonside from blinds located in the water. Every spot will have decoys set up and every hunter will be assisted by a bird-boy whose job is to make sure the hunter´s needs are catered for. Bird-boys will use typical calls.

» Package:
In this program, each hunter shoots between 200 and 250 rounds. Shooting begins at daybreak all the way up to 11.00 AM. Then we return to the lodge where we have lunch and rest until about 4.00 PM when we get back to our shooting spots and go on until night falls.

As an alternative to duck hunting, and in order to preserve the species, other hunting activities are organized, such as: partridge, becacina, dove or hare shooting. This activity is also organized by the head guide and the assistants with each dogs.

» Accommodation:
La Pelada lodge covers 80.000 acres and is located 20 miles far from Esquina on the banks of Corriente river. The ranch has a spectacular view over the river and its delta, surrounded by a dense vegetation with a wide range of plants and ancient trees. The view is panoramic and wonderful. The ranch consists of 4 spacious double rooms with private bath (accommodating up to 8 guests) and comfortable beds, a fireplace and great views. A large and majestic living room, carefully decorated, a bar made of quebracho wood and an important dining room make you travel to past times. In the ranch galleries you can sit down to take a rest and have tea or lunch in the summer, there is also a large garden with a swimming pool, completing the offer of this elegant ranch standing in the region since the beginning of the century.
